Gary Smith – Parent Governor
I have been a parent governor for a number of years and all three of my children have attended Jubilee Academy Mossley. I am an active participant in many aspects of the school and have recently taken on the role of vice chair, which I am very excited about. This role will further allow me to promote the school’s vision, enabling the children to feel positive about their learning and to provide them with the best possibility to lead happy and successful lives.
Chris Davies – Community Governor
Hi, my name is Chris and I am the Vicar at the neighbouring Church of St Thomas’ Mossley and also of Holy Ascension Church on Lower Farm. I’ve been in ministry for a number of years but for most of this time as an Ordained Local Minister, which meant that carry out ministry alongside my own secular Job in Social Housing.
I worked for many years for a local Housing Association managing housing a support services for vulnerable people. I have been involved in Scouting all of my life and have seen our three children go through the education system.
I believe that God creates each of us; each with a unique set of gifts and talents. I see education as a tool to help us discover who we are and release that potential which is within each of us.
As Governor I wish to help the Jubilee Academy to always strive to be the best we can be in all areas of school life, so that we continue to offer the best possible opportunities to our children.
Fern Matthews – Staff Governor
I have been a staff governor for slightly less than a year. Before that, in 2014/2015, I was a parent governor.
I am currently the link to PSHE and french. I am a teaching assistant at Jubilee Academy Mossley and have been employed here for 5 years.
I enjoy my link to PSHE as I feel it is one of the most important ways of teaching children to stay safe, healthy and prepare them for life.
